Mother has lived alone with Jack for 12 years. She has raised him on her own, in badly off conditions. She is strong and independent but that is the requirement. Times are tough indeed, but that should ready Jack for the harsh world they live in… There little stilt shack in the swamp is pretty much self sustained, so they don’t need much. She manages to keep things flowing with some petty jobs, mainly mechanic repairs, oil supplying for the rare souls who happen to cross this cursed land… But the period is even more difficult than usual, it’s almost like the fish have left the area without a warning. Do they also fear the giant objects that falls from the sky from time-to-time? They are getting more frequent these days. The Hawker is a local windler who goes from house-to-house on his little flying raft built of junk. It’s a miracle this thing is even working! He runs his small business, mainly selling odds and ends to gullible and desperate clients. He has the reputation to be quite a sneaky swamp bird but supplies are rare these days, and if you give him time he can get you pretty much anything you desire.
The experience takes place in miyazaki-esque marshland world full of swamp and fog. Inside your family’s stilt house, the situation is dire. Your stern mother instructs you to use the last of her pennied to buy supplies for survival. But onboard the merchant’s boat, you meet a mysterious old man who convinces you to acquire his beans which he claims are magical. Back home your mother could not be more upset and, in her fury, she throws the worthless beans out the window and into the swamp below. At night the magic kicks in! After your mother goes outside to investigate, the entire house is torn apart and you fly up atop the remaining wooden floor, above the clouds. Into the fantastical realm of giants. Then in the giants kitchen, you will meet the giant’s wife - and eventually the giant himself. It will be up to you to not just avoid being eater for dinner… but to bring back home the magical golden harp.
